Alain Guy Tanefo has accumulated more than a decade of accomplishments in the management of medical technology and healthcare facilities, driving achievements of the highest goals in project planning, execution and follow through, budget control, sales growth, market share expansion and operation efficiency. A key contributor in turning stranded and underperforming healthcare institutions into highly profitable ones, with significant growth capacity, Alain Guy brings valuable insight and knowledge regarding leadership and management challenges faced by the healthcare delivery industry in developing and underdeveloped countries.
Beginning his professional career as a biomedical engineer, Alain Guy participated in turning the department of Biomedical Engineering at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal (Canada), into a revenue-generating unit, by strengthening the operations of the department and establishing a solid base for offering services to smaller hospitals, not fortunate enough to afford the services of a full time professional in medical technology management. Demonstrating interest for the dynamic of the healthcare business, particularly the need for creative financing schemes to afford the acquisition of expensive medical technologies, Alain Guy moved to multinational firm headquartered in Montreal and led successfully the management of several healthcare expansion and development projects in Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Venezuela.
Alain Guy later accepted the challenge to relocate to Caracas (Venezuela), as the team leader in restructuring and managing the operations of the largest ambulatory healthcare facility in the country. The recognition of his significant contribution in reverting the company’s culture to one of profitability, made him the perfect candidate for the CEO’s position, where he built the foundation for the development of the impatient services and accumulated years of substantial profitability.
He later became part the Northern Latin America & Caribbean network of the world leading manufacturer of oncology equipment, Varian Medical Systems, where he contributed in expanding the company’s market share by increasing the understanding of the use of radiation technology in treating cancer. Alain Guy joined Medcorp Limited, a group of healthcare companies based in Port of Spain (Trinidad), with the mandate to turn the organization into a corporate one with a lasting leadership in the Caribbean region.
