Dr. Roland Roochand

Dr. Roland Roopchand is one of the earliest members of Caribbean Heart Care and heads our Anaesthetic team since 2000. Dr. Roopchand is extremely well organized and strategic in his approach to patient management. He has a wealth of experience in Anaesthetics having practiced Anaesthesia since 1982 to present. In 1983,

Dr. Roopchand obtained his Diploma in Anaesthetics at the University of the West Indies. He was awarded his Doctor of Medicine, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, at the same university in 1989, and pursued an elective in Cardiac Anaesthesia in 1995 at the University Hospital North Staffordshire, Stoke on Trent.

Dr. Roopchand’s great ambitions also led to the pursuit of his Bachelor of Laws from the University of London, 2003. Amongst Dr. Roopchand’s international publications is “Instability of the Tracheal tube in Neonates, Anaesthesia, Vol 44 pages 107-109, 1989. His deep spirituality and interest in religion have led him to inspirational writing of his book entitled “Fruits of the Vine”, published by Minerva press, United Kingdom.

Dr. Roopchand is widely read in Medicine, Religion, and Music.

Due to his remarkable creativity, Dr. Roopchand produced his patented inventions of the Endotrachael tube holder and Pressure infuser. For these, he received the Prime Minister’s Award in the year 2000.

He is of sound character, charitable at heart and has a deep love for family.
